OPUS is a one night art exhibition in Tampa, Florida that is free both to show in and free to attend. There is no application fee, no gallery fee, and OPUS does not take a percentage of any sales of the art. The exhibition is hosted at Tampa Covenant Church, in a unique industrial-modern space. The show features local artists from the greater Tampa area, with the intent of showcasing local artists while providing the opportunity for the community to experience fine art in the Carrollwood area of Tampa. Artists will be selected by a jury, and those selected artists will each be given a space to display their artworks. Artist is requested to attend the night of the event and asked to hang and take down their works.

OPUS is open to individual artists who make their own fine art works. All work must be original and must be made by the artist, who is present at OPUS. Copies, reproductions of others’ work, and derivative images are not permitted; you must own the copyrights to all of your work. Artists should only exhibit works typified by the images submitted with their application. Commercial and photographic reproductions* are NOT eligible for awards.

All 2-D and 3-D (including photography and digital) media are welcome at OPUS! Please read below for more Submission Criteria. If you wish to submit videos please insert links for us to view.

You will need.

  1. 3 clear images of your work no larger than 3 MB per image. Be sure your photos are an accurate representation of your piece.
  2. Title, Size and Dimensions of each work.
  3. A clear, recent photo of yourself. Also no larger than 3 MB
  4. A brief bio and statement of your artistic process (2-4 paragraphs)

Artists selected for OPUS 2024 will be notified following judging by August 23

About OPUS

OPUS artists are each provided a metal gridwall booth, 8’ tall and 8’ wide, with an additional 2’ of width on each side. Accepted OPUS artists are expected to display enough work to fill the center section (including their three application submissions), or a minimum of 8’ x 8’.

3D artists are provided floor space and are expected to provide their own means of displaying their work (pedestals, stands, etc). 3D artists may also request gridwall to display their work.

Permitted works

OPUS is open to individual artists who make their own fine art works. All work must be original and must be made by the artist, who is present at OPUS. Copies, reproductions of others’ work, and derivative images are not permitted; you must own the copyrights to all of your work. Artists should only exhibit works typified by the images submitted with their application. Commercial and photographic reproductions* are NOT eligible for awards.

Submitted work should have been completed within the past two years. Artists from Previous OPUS shows should submit only new work** for judging, and if accepted, should show a minimum of 50% new works** in OPUS 2024.

Please be sure your three submitted works are representative of the work you intend to show at OPUS 2024. If you submit two abstract watercolors and one ceramic sculpture, the OPUS judges will assume you intend to show 2/3 abstract watercolors and 1/3 ceramic sculpture. Your three submissions should be shown at OPUS 2024. Do not submit work that is not representative of the pieces you will show at OPUS. Submissions of a cohesive body of work are preferred to pieces in multiple disparate styles and mediums.

*When original art is scanned into a computer or photographed onto film and then printed as an inkjet print, photograph, offset lithograph, etc., the result is a reproduction. The defining factor is that an original piece of artwork already exists prior to the printing – everything that follows is a reproduction.

**”New work” is defined as artworks not displayed at OPUS 2016 through 2023.
